Sometimes when I know i'm sleeping I can't wake myself up

Sometimes i'll be sleeping, and I know i'm sleeping. But when I try to move to wake myself up i can't. I feel paralyzed and am unable to talk, or move even though I know i'm sleeping and want to wake myself up. What is this called?
