Swelling of dogs back leg - upper thigh area

My 9 year old chocolate labrador's inner left back thigh is very swollen(it is probably twice the size of his right leg). There is a minor swelling which can also be seen. This minor swelling or lump is soft to the touch - not hard. It isnot red, discolored or painful.
The limb is not painful and there seem to be no other symptoms. He does not limp
