tratment options for myloperliferative disorder

By pat from coatesville,PA on August 24, 2006 in Rare Disorders

A family member has been treated numerous times with banding when veins break and bleed. She has myloperliferative disorder. A clot next to her liver is causing hypertension and doctors say the clot cannot removed surgically. Last week she got banding done, but doctors say they will not be able to band anymore because the skin is so thinnly stretched. They are not giving any options as to what to do when she bleeds again. Evidently, it is the hypertension causing the problem, not the myloperliferative disorder. We are looking into a second opinion. Can you suggest ANYTHING for us to further investigate some possible treatment options to stop the hypertension which is negatively affecting her blood disorder?
