Usage of Miconazole Nitrate cream

I have been prescribed the above cream as i have dry patches skin on my body, but i have now noticed that i am starting to get what looks like spots all over my body. Can i use the cream for this to see if it will treat these as well, or will i need to go back and see what my doctor says, i just do not like going in and wasting my doctors time.
