what impact does a cough have on effectiveness of ramipril

my mother takes ramipril, has done for approx 3 years. She has recently had a cold, which has left her with a barking cough. Could this be linked to the ramipril - our local pharmacist suggested it might be.
If so, what would the implications would be?
