Solid phlegm in throat, like a little white ball
By Mick from South Australia, Australia on January 04, 2006 in Online Medical Reference
For about the last 2 months I have frequently woken up with the feeling of something sitting in my throat. Within an hour of wakening I am able to cough up or simply roll out, a little chunk or lump of solid white stinky material from my throat. The white lump is firm and has the consistency of dough. Sometimes it is a little bigger, or in two or three chunks. It is about 2 or 3 millimeters in size. For the last 2 weeks I have coughed this stinky thing up each morning. I don’t have a cough or any type of flu or cold and am fit and in good health. The only thing I might be able to link it to is stress, as it seems that the lump only comes when I am a little stressed. What is this lump of stench? What causes it and how can I get rid of it? Thanks. |
