How to handle a sister with a drinking problem

I am looking for the name or names of a sponsor in the Macomb County, Michigan area to can give our family help in attempting to reach a family member with an long standing, serious drinking problem. We have talked about holding an intervention of sorts but are not sure how to begin, the right things to say to start a discussion (that will not send her running out the door), etc. I have broached the subject via e-mail (long story, bad choice of trying to open up a line of communication however was put on the spot), she has since written me off (she being my sister) but my niece would like us to pursue this further. I want to help but since she no longer speaks to me, am looking for assistance to guide my niece in again trying to approach the topic with her mom.
Whatever assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
