What's the best home remedy for a teething baby?

My son is 14 months old, and he is teething. Right now he is getting three jaw teeth at the same time. I have tried everything from orajel to frozen wash cloths. Nothing seems to sooth his gums and I am trying to find old home remedies to try. My mother and father inlaw are the kind of people that go by the signs.
