Prognosis for Colloid Breast Cancer Tumors
By Patricia Harkins from Harrisonburg, VA on August 24, 2005 in Cancer Centers
I had a colloid tumor removed from my right breast in October - it was stage 1, 1.7 cm, clean/clear margins, and very strongly estrogen receptive, progesterone negative. Subsequent surgery discovered my sentinel node was negative. I had six weeks of radiation therapy on my right breast and am now taking Arimidex.
I worry that not having chemotherapy will lessen my survival chances and do have some feelings of heaviness and discomfort in my right breast and side - going around to the upper back on that side. Any new changes or feelings give me feelings of anxiety. I am 58 years of age - otherwise healthy and want to continue that way.
What is my prognosis with colloid cancer and how can I make sure I am doing everything possible to prevent a recurrence or worse a spread of the cancer? When can I realistically consider myself a survivor and cancer-free? |
