How to get my boyfriend to open up

I'm 24 years old & I'm in a serious 2 yr. relationship with my 32 years old boyfriend, John. About a year before we met he was engaged to be married but had his heart broken. His childhood wasn't easy & at a young age he was running the streets and doing drugs. This behavior continued up until his engagement was broken off & he decided on his own he needed a change in his lifestyle. Today he has opened his own contracting company & is doing well. He is an very laid back guy & in two years we've gotten into maybe 5 fights, he is genually a sweet person.The problem is I can't get John to open up. I've tried many things & am a very passionate person & expressing my feelings has alway's been important in my life. I first tried asking him to join me for some Q&A time together, all I got was yes and no answers. Then I put together a book of quotes/love quizzes we could both answer & asked him if we could discuss them together. He has said yes but has never finished answering his questions. He treats me good but is very insecure and it affects sex and the intimacy I feel I need. Help? |
